The First Fitting: Turning Vision Into Reality
Share
I’ll admit, walking into my first fitting session felt like stepping into a final exam. My heart was racing, and I had a lot riding on this moment. After months of planning, sketching, and imagining, it was time to see if my unique design concept would come to life as I envisioned - or if I’d be heading back to the drawing board. But as soon as I saw the garments on the rack, I felt a wave of relief. They were beautiful, and the nods of approval from the head pattern makers told me I was on the right track. I could finally breathe.
One of the biggest lessons from that fitting was how essential fabric choice is. We tested three different materials, each with its own unique qualities, and I’m so glad we did. There was a clear standout: a fabric with a soft, silky finish that has just the right amount of shine without being flashy. It felt luxurious, moved beautifully, and elevated the whole look. When you see it, you'll understand why I fell in love with it.
Of course, no fitting session is perfect, and we made plenty of tweaks. We adjusted shoulder seams, hem lengths, and even small details like cuff types. Honestly, I hadn’t realised how much of a difference the cuffs would make, but seeing the various options really drove home the importance of every detail. These little adjustments might seem minor, but they’re what transform a garment from good to exceptional.
Leaving that fitting session, I felt a sense of accomplishment and excitement. My vision was starting to come to life, and it was more than just an idea on paper. There’s still work to do, but I’m more inspired than ever to keep pushing forward.
And yes, there’s still a twist coming that I can’t wait to reveal. Let’s just say it’s going to add a whole new level of versatility to the collection. But for now, we’re fine-tuning, adjusting, and making sure every piece is as perfect as possible. Thanks for following along this journey - I can’t wait to share what’s next.
Stay tuned! xx
